MP3: The King Is Coming

No, it’s not a worship track. Quite the opposite. You may love this metalocalyptic track I collaborated on with five people I still haven’t met. As part of the Semiotic Cohesion art collective.

The King Is Coming

Check out the hilarious lyrics below.

New MP3: Eres Aqui

Eres Aqui (‘You Are Here’ in Spanish) is the first official Pravda23 track created and recorded completely spontaneously. It’s also a tribute to Cape Studies, the awesome language school where I teach English to travellers from Brazil, Germany, Korea, Italy, Colombia, Angola, Gabon…etc! The whole track was made up from scratch and COMPLETELY on-the-fly in the sunshine outside the classrooms with a guitar, a laptop, a soundcard, a tambourine and a dream.

MP3: Black Smoke [v5.0]

The people I’ve played this track to say it sounds nothing like the original. Black Smoke [v5.0] is a commercial house adaptation of the previous version. See how this project works or listen to previous version (3.0) below the track box.

Video: Sout Project Joburg Tour

A short video story about my first musical adventure to Joburg with The Sout Project last week. Visit Cape Town-based Sout Project for more on emergence. In keeping with the theme of spontaneous improvisation, the audio for this video was created, edited and exported in 20 minutes whilst waiting in the departure lounge and on the return flight.

MP3: Sticky Kuleshov DJ Mix

What tracks are to composers, DJ mixes are to DJs. A DJ selects a number of homogenous tracks, mixes them together and releases 60 – 90 minutes of music, sometimes with a track or two of their own thrown in. In this experiment, the Sticky Kuleshov Mix is my first attempt at releasing an hour of original music in this format. Sourced from the past five years of Kuleshov Effect tracks, here’s an hour of creative cross-blending from the mainframe featuring live, home-made violin, guitar and djembe and planting footprints in drum & bass, house and dubstep. The Sticky Kuleshov Mix also features the contributions of Pravda23 fans, who were encouraged to contribute spoken word, poetry and thoughts. Enjoy, and thank you comrades!

finally! a mini-tour!

After roughly 6 years of working on this project, I’m proud to announce that I’m going on tour to Johannesburg for 4 days with The Sout Project. I’m doing visuals through a program called Motion Dive Tokyo and playing violin on one of the tracks. Wish me luck and thanks for the support!

video: live violin & MC-909 improv

Our gear list leaps forward with the addition of a Roland MC-909 sampler / groovebox, a decent PA system and an African Grey.
