I still don’t fully understand electricity. What made it even more confusing is when I heard that the subatomic particles that constitute all material reality in THIS, YOUR WORLD (not some far off, abstract imagination) are nothing more than electrical charges being spontaneously manifested by seemingly random probabalistic forces. Furthermore, quantum mechanics argues that the act of observing them collapses the indiscriminate wave of probability to a certainty, resulting indirectly in the creation of “fixed” physical matter wherever and whenever you observe. Naturally, it’s all a bit confusing, and my personal translations are probably the most dumbed down you’re ever going to hear.
But it’s exciting to think that you are in fact creating every time you make a choice, conscious or unconscious, collapsing the wave of potential futures. It’s not New Age, splinter-fringe pop psychology. The fact is that you’ve always decided your path. Not necessarily always by controlling what happens, but always by choosing your REACTION to what happens, whether you’re aware of it at the time or not. The new, expensive glass falls off the table and breaks, You frown. Decision. The money is cleared and you see it in your account. You smile. Decision. To say it’s involuntary or “just a normal reaction” is to say that you’re a robot, no more able to create your life than a bowling ball is able to float. Which fails to explain why you still make decisions consciously, like the time you thought carefully about that job before agreeing to take it.
Why am I telling you all this?
