It was fun. We went up Signal Hill, broadcast a 2-hr backing setlist through an iTrip to the car radios of three cars and played live acoustic instruments on top! An unplugged electronic gig.

It’s not really supposed to be a big deal, but it’s looking like a fun night anyway. Along with some of our friends at Mixtape, Pravda23 brings you the first event of its kind, I guess. Tomorrow, Friday the 27th November, anyone with a car radio can join us for the LIVE MOBILE DISCO! We’re meeting at Signal Hill at 7pm. Here’s how it works…
On Friday the 27th November, all cars will gather at an outdoor location within the city and within 30m of each other to tune into a specific frequency on their radios. Using an iTrip to broadcast a pre-sequenced, fully original set of backing music to all the cars simultaneously we’ll layer our instruments over the energetic setlist. All live in concert, while walking around between cars! Bring your instruments.
At any point, the party is able to up-and-go to another location. The music can even continue playing as we fork our way through night-time city traffic!
LOL, there’s no money! Just driving around having fun, as it should be. We may have some CDs for R50, just in case, but whatever. Bring your happy face!
Given that this is a public event and we may be attracting some attention, we’re taking law enforcement into account here. Kindly leave your illegals at home.
Join the SMS mailing list or just SMS me or Nick if you have our numbers.
Please bring instruments
New upload site called We Share Music, where Pravda23 was recently featured. Well, we submitted Version 3.0 [download now]. The site’s stuff appears to be mostly ambient / cinematic electronic music. I often wonder how many of these guys manage to gig their own material. Go check out some web talent.

Yep, it’s called Swazi [v4.0], a type of South African ‘marihuana’ (the Devil’s Drug). And once you’re over that, you’ll dig the lyrics later in the track, which go:
Water for your daughter
Jive to keep you alive
Juice to make you loose
Swazi to make you fuzzy
If you’ve been to Clifton 4th in Cape Town, you’ll know the vibe: dudes selling ice cream and trying to make everything rhyme, maybe slipping an ‘Ice cream, Magnum, swazi, skunk’ in there somewhere. If not, join the rest of Joburg and come to Clifton 4th in Cape Town this summer. It’s where it’s at.

Yeah, so we’ve hooked up with a fresh, talented photographer by the name of ADHP. While usually only shooting strictly on slide film, ADHP made an exception for this gallery, using a digital camera on slow synchro to both capture the moment and ‘paint’ with the remaining light.
His trademark style will no doubt be around, but in the meantime, check out his Facebook group. These photos were taken at Mrs Pickwicks as part of our awesome, ongoing Saturday night residency. Come check it out on Saturday, and join the mailing list below to get gig updates.
Edition 2 of Dot Comic is being released, one panel at a time. Under the characteristically spontaneous guidance of my virtual companion Pravda23, I steal a fancy sports car. Pravda23 attempts to explain the fruitlessness of material pursuit. Added below is page 11 of 16.
Edition 2 is presently being released as part of a series. Check back daily for updates on Edition 2 of Pravda23’s Dot Comic: Money & Wealth.
Cool dudes over at Springleap did a li’l review on us. And wow, cool shirts.
“Their music usually starts out with a minimalistic kind of techno, but is soon layered with piano and violin sounds. It’s really intriguing to see an evolution in music, especially so close to home. These guys are really on the threshold of something different. While the sound itself is still in its beginning stages, you can definitely hear that they are on to something.”

Here’s a trick for creating beats, designs, whatever: save in versions. That way, you have a safety net if the thing goes off in a weird direction and you’ve already maxxed out CTRL+Z. This live version of Twitch, which we recorded at our weekly Pickwicks show two weeks ago, was actually the seventh version of the track I’ve done. It’s also the only live track I’ve ever released which hasn’t been included in our free, continually updating dynamic album, The Kuleshov Effect. Yet.
Listen to or download the MP3 above, and if you dig it, come watch Jickedy Jack Sprat aka Knucklez and I layer some guitar and scratching over live at Mrs Pickwicks gigs on Saturday.
