Update Your Music. Here’s how
Now that Pravda23 is a band, we need a consistent look and feel. It may go in this direction:QR code / mosaic, branded in the same vein as upcoming album version 3.0.
Story: In around 2002, I met a French-speaking Congolese car guard called Frankie. He was a born again Christian. He spoke with authority on things no man could or can possibly know. I thought a lot about it, and took my laptop one night to record him. What was born out of that was a gritty vocal sample that I heard again and again as I factored it into a track called Think: “Think about your soul, about your future. You see, you’re gonna die one day but after, what’s gonna happen to you?”
I lost the sample, but the track survived, and was released about two years ago (on Version 2.5 – download now). For the MP3 update below, I’ve explored a different angle for this track (dubstep), but I still think of Frankie when I hear it, and wonder where he is.

Edition 2 of Dot Comic is being released, one panel at a time. Under the characteristically spontaneous guidance of my virtual companion Pravda23, I steal a fancy sports car. Pravda23 attempts to explain the fruitlessness of material pursuit. Added below are Pages 8-9 of 16.

Before “update your music”, the tagline for Pravda23 was “Music is Silence.” But unsolicited philosophical conclusions aside. Every so often there comes a track that really reminds you that it’s as much about the gaps between as it is about the audio. Be Still is a tender track with a string quartet and four-part vocal harmonies off the upcoming album by Nic Paton, Sout by Northwest. Here’s the Pravda23 mix.

I can hardly contain my excitement at how well this track has turned out. Sure, like always, there are things to be done, separates to be mastered and little things to be tweaked, but Ones & Zeroes [v3.0] has had me grooving since I wrapped it up at 2.30am this morning.
Remember, all the tracks you hear on this site are performed live. Like, DJ plus instruments (violin, piano, guitar, djembes, percussion, etc.) We’ll do live piano and percussion on this one when we perform it at Pickwicks next month.
