Semiotics. Bah. Links Are Better.

The strange and beautiful chaps from cult UK-based webzine Semiotic Cohesion were kind enough to set me up with a linkback after I co-conspired to cook one of the delicious, meaty tracks for The Saga of the European King. It’s a triumphant, melancholy trip about a dude who…well. Check out their welcome splash of raw creativity and get sucked in. While you’re at it, get to know the Sharks.

Get In Her Head, Then Get In Her Bed.

You know when your family whips out the baby photos in front of the new girl? That’s kinda what I’m doing by sending you the link to my first ever voice-over project.

I’m Now An African.

Got a piece published on Africans.co.za, the roughest, dirtiest, least give-a-damn site in the landscape. You know, the spot that publishes these awesomely provocative banners. Ye Comments Below.

The Clothes Don’t Make The Player

The boys over at 3am were kind enough to sort me out with my own flashy player! Yeah, baby. Yeah, it may look familiar – it’s the same one as the one on my audio page, but that’s because there are only two dudes in the country who know how to make these babies: Riaan and Winston Nolan. Props, gents. Snaz, huh? Take a listen by clicking the cover but I gotta warn you: the tunes are dirty. Good thing they’re released in updates and improved over time.

3am.co.za is a site devoted to psytrance and electronic music in Cape Town and South Africa. They’re pretty much the definitive guide to outdoor festivals and party, and also have a store where you can top up on the DJs latest releases. Huh! As if anyone buys music. But a good place to stop by and check out what’s coming up outdoors.

Strip Teaser

The initial sketching for the as-yet unnamed Pravda23 Comic Strip has been completed! As we speak, I’m backing up the digitally sketched booklet blueprints to Dropbox. I don’t think it’s fair on true artists to call this piddly-wink a graphic novel, so I think ‘comic strip’ would be better. Twelve pages, and the brief, humourous storyline is based on true events: my initial, life-changing encouter with Pravda23.

There are rather biggish plans for the Pravda23 project, world domination and all that. I’ll keep you updated. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out what happens when you sneak a portable sound recorder into the room when nobody’s watching.

Makin’ Movies In The Street

This is what it’s about. I come home to Kylemore Manor the other night, and the boys from West Fort Film Productions Cape Town are shooting a bit of a promo bio on a street corner deep in the suburbs of upper Woodstock. Nothing wrong with a li’l after hours creativity. In a place like Cape Town, after all, it’s basically required in order to get ahead in any creative industry. Keep on it, Amr, Shuks and co.
