Mover & Shaker

Just a dash of nostalgia on a Friday afternoon. This was one of the very first Pravda23 banners created, probably around 2006. It’s a bit gritty when scaled down – click the thing for full size.

How To Print Home-Made Designer Jeans

Using iron-on print paper and fabric paint, here’s how you can make a boring pair of jeans look like your own.

You’ll need:

* a pair of scissors, but DO NOT run with them haha
* a cool design. but remember: nobody’s judging you.
* one sheet of iron-on print paper (there’s a brand called Tribe – no jokes)
* a tub of light fabric paint: light as in shade, not weight
* your mom’s iron

Step one

Paint your ‘backdrop design’ onto the fabric. You have to use light coloured paint, because the iron-on print used in step 3 is only subtractive, ie, it cannot be seen on dark fabrics. Yes? Good. Lay down masking tape before you start painting if you want to create straight lines. Leave it overnight to dry and paint a second coat the next day.

How To Make A Graffiti Stencil

Seven short steps on how to create your own graffiti stencil, which is what me and Bambi did this weekend.

You’ll need:

* a cool design
* one sheet of acetate (overhead projector paper, for you people over 25)
* a crop / blade tool
* a fine permanent marker pen
* masking tape
* a piece of plastic (steal an ADT sign) or cardboard (a case of beer should do. I was thinking about getting one anyway)

Step one

Print your design onto paper. You can also just print the outline of your design, to save ink.

pravda23 in 3D

been toying around with Google Sketchup in an effort to show you the egg-shaped floating head (Pravda23) that acts as my daily companion and inspiration, even though it’s largely invisible to others. Compare with the early, smooth Pravda from from Edition 2 of Dot Comic:

video: pravda23 (violin) & rodney gee (photoshop)

a couple of days ago we did a one-of-a-kind event. the turnout was ok for that part of town, but we had more than enough fun. myrid ambre did his usual demonic ambient dj set, while surrealist artist rodney gee painted live digital art onto the wall via his design tablet. here i am performing halo atiyyah [v2.7] on live violin.

check out more upcoming events, or subscribe to the mailing list or facebook page for more fun.

QR Code Frame Art

Thanks to “Grace Kelly” for sending through this unique, QR Code photo frame artwork! Quick Response technology allows you to link to a website on your phone just by holding it up to one of those small, monochrome datamatrix images you’ve seen around. The design in this awesome piece links to the Pravda23 homepage.

We’ve featured QR artwork on Pravda23 before: check out the active, web-linking ink-on-canvas piece I did for a friend in Joburg, or more on QR Code.

Scan your friends! Check out BandFashion for web-linking QR Code T-shirts and more!
